Ethnic Studies Week (October 1-7th, 2010) is a nationally coordinated week of actions to promote ethnic studies and academic freedom.
It was inspired by Arizona’s House Bill 2281 that falsely defines the purpose and work of ethnic studies & also the May 21st passage of ‘new social studies standards’ which were set by the Texas State Board of Education.

WEAR RED & BLACK EACH DAY
~ these colors will represent those who support ALL forms of knowledge & who oppose censorship ~

ATTEND THE FOLLOWING CAMPUS EVENTS

Tuesday, Oct 5th
11:00-2:00 pm
Art Display & Teach-In

Students will display a visual art piece to raise awareness on academic freedom and the positive contributions ethnic studies has made to democracy and American society.
Drop in artists will contribute their visions & thoughts on signs and banners.
(Norlin Quad in front of library)

Wednesday, Oct 6th
11:00-2:00 pm

‘Ethnic Studies Now: What is the Future?’

6:00 – 7:00 pm ~ lounge gathering & art display
7:00 – 8:00 pm ~ forum
Ethnic Studies Department faculty, students and staff will showcase the intellectual & social contributions of interdisciplinary ethnic studies at CU Boulder & beyond.
8:00 – 9:00 pm ~ networking
~ light refreshments will be provided ~
