The INVST Community Leadership Program is a 2-year training experience for students who are interested in social justice & environmental sustainability. Our comprehensive small-group experience combines academics, community service and leadership skills training. INVST provides a sense of community on campus. We offer two life-changing summer travel opportunities that allow you to focus on energy & power in the US Southwest, and immigration & economic globalization impacting Central America & the US/Mexico border. And, by participating you can earn the CU Certificate in the Study & Practice of Leadership.
These financial awards may be available for those who participate in INVST:
—AmeriCorps Education Award: Students admitted to INVST can choose to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award for up to $2,500 for their participation. The tuition waiver is distributed after the completion of 300 or more community service hours each year.
–A limited number of scholarships will be granted to those who demonstrate need and are residents of the state of Colorado. The Jim Downton Community Leadership Scholarship of $2,000 towards CU tuition will be awarded to one student in the incoming Community Leadership Program class.
–Also this year, for the first time, thanks to a grant form the Community Foundation of Boulder County, we will be able to offer a $2,000 scholarship to one person, for doing the community service internship in the first year in INVST. This Expanding Leadership Scholarship will be offered in 2011-2012.
