Volunteer with CAPS (Counseling & Psychological Services) ~ Receive a Certificate!
This is a great opportunity for students to nurture leadership skills, receive training around basic counseling skills, mental health, and social justice/multicultural issues, and help promote health and wellness through outreach on our campus.
Volunteers will get a chance to meet and network with CAPS staff, and even work directly with them through different outreach events and workshops. Volunteers will be required to come to a monthly meeting/training and participate in at least 2 volunteer opportunities per semester.
Volunteers who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to apply for the Bounce Back peer coach position. In this position, the volunteer would help co-facilitate a Bounce Back group, which focuses on supporting students on academic probation.
This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in the mental health field and would like to learn more about how a counseling center works and how to get into the field. We are also hoping to have volunteers that come from many different majors as it feels so important to have different student perspectives that can help us develop better outreach for our campus. You will learn skills that you can take with you, no matter what field you end up choosing.
