Alternative Breaks is attempting to reach all students inspired
to make an impact in communities both at home and abroad. Our
site-leaders have been hard at work planning trips centered around a
vast array of issues that we are facing on a day to day basis, and
this year the trips are shaping up our best yet.
There are some core components that Alternative Breaks fosters in
order to create a positive and lasting impact in both the students
and the communities served.
These include; education surrounding the issue area, direct
service in Boulder and communities across the globe, critical thinking
This year we are striving for maximum student involvement to
cultivate active citizens on our campus!
This 2012 Spring Break we are sending 10 trips focused on:
Disaster Relief – New Orleans, Louisiana
Environmental Conservation – Catalina Island, California
Human Rights- Atlanta, Georgia
Nutrition and Wellness- Austin, Texas
Youth Empowerment- Boulder Creek, California
Urban Poverty- Cincinnati, Ohio
Youth Advocacy- Kansas City, Missouri
Animal Rights- Seguin, Texas
Diversity- Fonda, New York
Youth and Illness- Orlando, Florida
We are asking you to please forward this email on to your listservs. We are looking for participation from as many different groups on campus as we can. Please let us know if you would like a representativeto come and speak at one of your
meetings as well.
