JOB TITLE:Colorado PEAK Intern
TIME COMMITMENT:Internship opportunity for 10-40 hours per week for a minimum of 2 months, preferably up to 12 months, as agreed upon by the Program Supervisor. Hours are generally scheduled during the traditional work day based on the schedule of the intern and supervisor.
MAJOR OBJECTIVE:CO PEAK (www.colorago.gov/PEAK) utilizes innovative technologies to increase access to health, nutrition and financial self-sufficiency benefits for Colorado’s more vulnerable individuals and families. PEAK is on online website through which Coloradans can apply for and manage their benefits. The online platform is key to the implementation of health care reform. The PEAK team is highly collaborative and works in close partnership with state agencies, counties, and a broad range of community-based organizations. PEAK seeks a highly motivated individual to work with an innovative team that provides resources, marketing and training across Colorado to advance the success of PEAK and support benefits access for eligible Coloradans.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The PEAK Intern will help increase access to health coverage and human service benefits throughout Colorado by offering support to the PEAK team including developing and disseminating marketing starter kits, assisting with survey data and evaluation information, and providing administrative support. The position requires team work, independence, and attention to detail. Interested individuals will gain skills in a number of areas, potentially including policy analysis, partnership development, public speaking, community engagement, outreach, marketing, program evaluation, and online training with the use of webinars and other technology. Some travel within Colorado may be required. An eligible intern must be a college, graduate student or recent graduate and willing to complete an application, background information, and orientation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Experience with data tracking systems and information systems are helpful. Strong written and oral communication skills are a must. Strong organizational skills are essential. High level of comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel and internet research. Experience in one of the following areas is preferred: marketing, video production, public speaking or adult instruction. The program seeks a dynamic learner who is open to contributing to a fast paced team to advance access to health coverage and human service benefits in Colorado. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience with public/non-profit partnerships for improved health care practices for vulnerable populations. Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
TRAINING AND ORIENTATION: Interested individuals must complete a Volunteer Application and submit a resume; participate in all required background check information and an interview process. An upfront orientation and on-the-job training and shadowing are provided. Ongoing support provided by program staff.
