Volunteer with Counseling & Psychological Services – Info Session Tues, APPS DUE Friday


Volunteer with CAPS!!! Counseling And Psychological Services
Goals: Provide access for student leaders to:
– Build leadership skills
– Learn about health, wellness, & prevention
– Impact the CU campus in creative ways, and make a difference in student’s lives
– Explore interests in counseling, education, mental health,
psychology, mentoring, etc.
– Learn how a college counseling center operates
– Participate in outreach focused on mental health & wellness such as running Stress Breaks and
presentations (training provided) on campus, reaching out to residence halls and student orgs
– Attend trainings to build skills in multiple areas (basic counseling skills, multicultural issues,
different areas of mental health)
– Promote CAPS resources and events, staff informational tables, support social media
– Assist and attend workshops
– Organize your own events, workshops, and outreach opportunities
– Interact/Network with CAPS staff
– Potential letter of recommendation
– Earn a CAPS Volunteer Training Completion certificate
– ***Qualify to apply for a peer education internship at CAPS for the following year!***
– Must be able to attend meetings/trainings twice a month on Thursdays 4:30-6:30
– Participate in at least 3 volunteer opportunities a semester (at least one per month)
– Must complete training sessions in the beginning of the semester- including Saturday 1/26/12
– Preference given to students who can commit to volunteering for Fall and Spring
