Hallett Hall is looking for a Diversity Mentor live-in position for the 2013-2014 year, to work coordinating and leading student development, community building, and diversity /social justice programming.

The Hallett Diversity Mentor (HDM) is a paraprofessional, live-in position and will work under the direct supervision of the Hallett Hall Director and Hallett Diversity Coordinator (HDC). The HDM is a staff member of the Department of Housing and as such, is expected to role model appropriate behavior at all times. Work performed will be in the areas of student development, community building, and diversity/social justice programming. The Department of Housing and Dining Services at the University of Colorado at Boulder is committed to building inclusive communities in our residence halls and educating students regarding issues concerning diversity and social justice. Students in the Hallett Diversity program receive the opportunity to be educated and increase their knowledge as well as their understanding surrounding issues of privilege, oppression, and the processes for responding to oppressive behavior. The HDM position requires the ability to develop and guide a cohesive and inclusive community through purposeful programming and education regarding diversity and social justice issues. It is important that s/he be a strong leader, but also a team player.
Candidates must be regularly enrolled full-time students at the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado. All candidates must hold at least a 2.7 grade point average and graduate students must hold at least a 3.0 average. Also you need to have a broad understanding (or at least some) of diversity issues such as sexual orientation, race, religion, ableism, ageism, etc.
If a candidate wishes to hold other employment, they must get approval from the Hallett Hall Director.
Double room paid for the academic year; each HDM will be assigned a roommate.
