Invitation to the 4th Annual RISE Symposium “The Future of Race and Education: Critical Theories and Critical Practices”

University of Colorado Boulder School of Education student group Racial Initiatives for Students and Educators (R.I.S.E.) is hosting its 4th Annual R.I.S.E.
Symposium on February 15th 2013. The symposium’s theme is “The Future of Race and Education: Critical Theories and Critical Practices”. The event is open to school administrators, teachers, and the general public; and is sponsored by CEB, UGGS, SGFB, and SESB. Please feel free to forward this invitation to those who may be interested.
The symposium features education scholars with expertise in literacy and mathematics that addresses the needs of students of diverse racial, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Guest speakers include keynote speaker Django Paris (Michigan State), Dr. Samy Alim (Stanford), Dr. Victoria Hand (CU-Boulder), Dr. Susan Hopewell (CU-Boulder), Dr. Ben Krishner (CU-Boulder), Dr. Edd Taylor (CU-Boulder), and others. Classroom application-oriented workshops will be offered by a group of CU-Boulder School of Education doctoral students.
