Colorado State University’s MA in Ethnic Studies – GTA funding app DUE Feb 15th

Colorado State University is accepting MA applications in Ethnic Studies at Colorado State University for Fall 2013.  Our deadline is February 15th if you are interested in applying for one of our Graduate Teaching Assistantships.  If awarded a GTA position, the tuition for one semester to a full year is covered and it includes health insurance, as well as a monthly stipend.

Our department also offers a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies, and a variety of research areas of emphasis in critical media studies, immigration, health care access, law & policy in Native communities, as well as transgender and sex worker studies.  Our MA Program is in its 4thyear, and already some of our graduate students have been accepted across the country in a variety of PhD programs, including Berkeley and the University of Hawaii.  Other students have been accepted into medical and law schools, whereas some of our MA graduates have directly entered their careers of choice, such as in nonprofit organizations dedicated to HIV/Aids work and Latina/o youth education.

We also offer travel awards and grant research monies to our students who are in need of funding to attend conferences and present their work, or gather data for their MA thesis.  Our students have formed an on campus organization to assist with mentoring, and overall, have worked with our faculty in forming a close knit academic and activist community.

Our graduate studies have two options for completing their MA.  We offer the tradition thesis track and we also offer a non-traditional track that allows graduate students to complete a community-based project for their degree.
