Cuban Hip Hop Group: Obsesion’s Social Programs in Havana

The Cuban hip-hop group Obsesion, formed by Magia Lopez and Alexey Rodriguez, is one of the most prominent hip hop groups in Cuba. They will give a presentation on their community work (e.g., workshops on racism, music and dance lessons, community projects) in Havana where they live. They will perform Sunday, October 6th at the D Note in Arvada if you would like to hear them perform. Information on the D Note performance is below. In addition, there will be a presentation on the changing economy in Cuba Monday night. Information on the presentation is also below.

Collin Laverty, the author of Cuba’s New Resolve, Economic Reform and its Implications for U.S. Policy, will provide information on the economy in Cuba, changes that occurred over the past few years, and what may happen moving forward. He writes on these and related issues for the Center for Democracy in the Americas and is president of Cuba Educational Tours.
Directions to 3250 O’Neal Circle Boulder, CO, 80305. Going north on 30th St. from Valmont, take a right on O’Neal Parkway. Take a right on O’Neal Circle and drive around the circle till you see the pool. The complex clubhouse door is near the pool. Parking is on the street. Please do not park in the spaces for residents.
