A Conversation on Ableism and Disability in Education
Thursday, March 6th
7:15pm – 8:15pm
What does it mean to live, learn, and teach in a community of learners with diverse needs and challenges?
Join the Education Diversity Scholars (EDS) and School of Education faculty for a discussion and conversation on the importance of Person-First discourse, and classroom and curriculum accessibility.
A short presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion in which we will explore:
* Our personal relationships with disability populations and cultures
* Current issues for students, teachers, parents, and policy-makers around ability and access
* What the future holds for our increasingly diverse schools
We invite all teacher education students, those interested in education, and anyone with an interest in equity and social justice to join us!
